It is a common misconception that we need to feel sorry for people with disabilities. The reality is, they don’t want to be pitied. What they want is access to opportunities so they can live like a normal person.
Cxrus Gives Back to the Community

That is why SPD, formerly known as the Society for the Physically Disabled, is working hard to help people with disabilities develop their potential to the fullest so they can be self-reliant, independent and find their place in the society.
On 26 July 2015, Cxrus Singapore participated in SPD’s “Have a Sweet Day” fundraising campaign. We divided our volunteers into five teams across the island, and each of them is given a donation tin and a bunch of lollipops to go around with. Anyone who makes a donation of $2 or more will be given a lollipop.
Volunteering with SPD was an eye-opening experience for the team. The overall impression was that people were genuinely approachable and generous. The following are some of the feedbacks from our volunteers:
“This was my first time approaching strangers with a big smile and talked to them about what we were doing. Most people will gladly listen, but I noticed that the older generations were more willing to donate with an open heart. It was a tiring day, but I enjoyed it. I find it very meaningful and I hope to be able to contribute again in the future.”
— Carmen Ng, Art Director
“The people we approached were surprisingly generous. I was reminded that people were inherently good, and would help if you just ask.”
— Teo Chin Hock, Solutions Director
Alvin Teo, Executive Director of Cxrus Solutions, said, “Today, we saw many of our staff from all departments came together for this meaningful event. Not only did they give back to the community by raising money, they supported each other and worked as a team for a cause greater than themselves. I couldn’t be prouder.”
Within a few hours, the team raises over $5,000 to support the amazing work that SPD is doing for the disabled community. At the end, even if the help we provided was small, we want to continue doing what we can to give back to our society.
